Cooperative Advocate

Hours: 10 – 20 hours a week contract; flexible. Weekend hours expected (Part-Time; Temporary)

Salary/Benefit: $20-25/hour 

The Northside Investment Cooperative Enterprise (NICE) is seeking a Cooperative Advocate to share with community members about cooperatives and recruit neighbors to become Coop members. Recruitment will involve in-person recruitment through doorknocking, tabling, and conversations with neighbors and customers of local businesses near 35th and Penn in north Minneapolis, and leading workshops in person and online about the Cooperative project.   • Doorknock and engage neighbors around 35th and Penn Ave N in north Minneapolis
  • Talk to patrons of the businesses at 35th and Penn about the Cooperative
  • Host Info sessions explaining the Cooperative and recruiting new Coop members
  • Follow up with interested community members about the Coop model
  • Attend community events to share about NICE

  • Prior knowledge of Cooperatives is not required

  • Self-starter, excellent communication skills, good time management, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Works well in a challenging environment both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to stay on task and problem solve, and ability to work in non-English speaking communities
